And so... a really good day! Creativity is prevalent and thriving. NEW VIDEO to a song that is close to Dennis Magnusen's heart. He wrote and performed this song with passion. One thing I know about this song is the significance to Denny and his commitment to PEACE is strong. He begins every single singing session at the mic with "Saigon Nights". It expresses his sadness and yet a power that arises to say NO to WAR. Denny has understood the sadness of war since he was 20 years old. He saw what war does to children, as many know because he has expressed that. That's why he became a teacher! He wanted to spread a different message than hopelessness laced with aggression. He wanted to show youth that there was and is another way. The very day he landed in Vietnam, he got it. He told me he looked around on the day he landed and understood it was all BS for a government's folly. The Vietnam war stole his youth and optimism about life. You cannot take a young man, put them in the circumstance of a wrong war, and not expect him not to cry out... "NO WAR".
Both Denny and I would so appreciate a thumbs up on YouTube and here on FB, that you subscribe and/or SHARE. And of course, we would LOVE any COMMENTS. THANK YOU!
PEACE
And HERE ARE THE LYRICS:
Saigon Nights
Saigon, TET 1968.
Written and performed by Dennis G Magnusen, Vocals & Guitar.
Video produced by Tiffany Wolff
LYRICS:
We take a step walking side by side
Saigon nights are mighty fine
we don't feel no pain, no pain tonight
take a few hits at the big 'O' den
papasan's tea is in us again
we don't feel no pain, no pain tonight
and the lights in the sky look a little better tonight
American planes flying up in the sky
children down below, they learn how to die
but they feel no pain, no pain tonight
rockets flying close over my head
night flares drop lighting up the dead
but they feel no pain, no pain tonight
and the lights in the sky look a little closer tonight
Twenty years come and go like that
hard to say just where I'm at
but I feel no pain, no pain tonight
tunnel light burning straight ahead
a few more steps I'm nearly dead
but I feel no pain, no pain tonight
and the lights in the sky starting to fade tonight
We take a step walking side by side
Saigon nights are mighty fine
we don't feel no pain, no pain tonight
take a few hits at the big 'O' den
papasan's tea is in us again
we don't feel no pain, no pain tonight
and the lights in the sky starting to fade tonight
and the lights in the sky starting to fade tonight
