Soo... what's our house like?

We have a great entryway. Double door entry with a big porch that leads into a foyer that looks on to the atrium. There is a covered breezeway that leads from the front driveway to the front door.

We did not put in 'wood' floors because it just is not practical in the island so opted for Pergo flooring throughout, (except in bathrooms).

In both the bathrooms we chose a high quality fixtures.

We added ceramic tile floors, shower/bath stalls as well as both sinks. There is a Jacuzzi in master bath with sink area in the dressing room. A clear glass shower door is in the 2nd bath.

Black granite in kitchen with black smooth top stove, black fridge, dishwasher and oven create a very hip look. We did not go with the Stainless because we noticed in the store that yes indeed they do get fingerprints and that was not appealing to us.

In the master bedroom we have pre-organized closets as well as in the 'dressing room' which includes drawers and shelve. Pre-organized shelve are NOT done in rubber coated wire but in wood making for a lasting and cleaner design.

Built in Bonus in our home is the built in china cabinet in the dining area as well as the drawers and shelves in the master bedroom, already mentioned.

We furnished this house with a minimalist approach so that the buyer might be able to envision their own furnishing in the home.

Grass and mature landscaping is abundant around this architect designed home. The yard is fully fenced with locking gate. Mac nut, mango, avocado, cotton candy, coconut, sequoia pines trees, gingers, orchids,ti leaf plants, ferns, and many other tropical flowers. Lava rock walls are throughout the yard.

This is not a 'kit home'! The house is a U shape with an Atrium and koi pond in the middle. Upon entering the house one looks onto the atrium as well, which is seen in almost every room.

Other attributes:

Double garage with side workshop area and full bath. Out buildings, COUNTY WATER, partially set up for catchment, SOLAR PANEL, fully covered paved breezeway from paved driveway to wide four step stairway that meets double door entry.

Central Vacuum - Plumbing (so to speak) There is an outlet in each room, a little square box on the wall that has a lid that pulls up. Inside there is a hole for a vacuum hose. Under the house there is a thing that looks like a barrel where the dust and dirt from the vacuum goes.

Nanawale Community pool, community house, the basketball court/park, surfing, groceries, pharmacy, restaurants, gift shops, schools, churches, 10-15 minutes away.

The town of Pahoa also has an amazing Olympic size pool and Community Center.

NOTE: While some people seek out Hilo area for convenience because of shopping, etc., Keep in mind that Pahoa has convenience of shopping and restaurants too, yes many of the same attributes. It hosts the quaint old part of Pahoa as well as its new shopping center.

Mahalo nui and remember if you are in the neighborhood be sure and stop by!

Legends of Mermaids on Kauai Shores

Outside my window I hear beating hooves.. it must be a pegasus arriving to a mermaids den bringing me the salt air of Kauai. It must be "Magic" a 30x40x2 oil on canvas.

Legends of Mermaids and Kauai Shorelines of Hanalei Bay

I heard there were myths to follow
legends of mermaids
trickles of light
dancing
on the shores of Kauai
a mermaids tale indeed.

"I have measured every star", she said
"How do I find the time?
I have taken every dream
and colored them with crayons
sprinkled them with fairy dust
and framed them in seashells.
I have captured spectacular moments
they simply could not escape.
I held them close
heard their messages
wept for knowledges sake
then wrapped them in silk.
My pleasure there
I waited for the time to be right
the moon full
and made promises to night.
Legends of mermaids spoke
and I heard them."

This legend or myth?
This mermaid's love affair
sings with an island that stands for love.
Out in the middle of the Pacific
it whispers
with every bit of potential
every spiritual lesson
every breath
I could possibly invoke.

Standing on the shoreline
Hanalei, a dragons den
Puff does welcome travelers in.
He hears their longings
and wanton cries
I too have been blessed
by a mountain long and wise.
Legends of Mermaids
lost at sea?
Myths no not ever.
Tis true these tales
and magic calls
open you heart to see
feel your life
tis just a breath away.

Chinese Ballet Circus pas de deux troupe du Guangdong

~*~

The above title is of a Utube that someone sent to me today. It is just the most beautiful Video, I just had to share it with all of you.

We all need things around us to inspire, especially if you are an artist. I am prompted to create after getting a buzz from something touchingly beautiful like the Utube that I mention below. It is just stunning.

It is a ballet circus act from China. At first you see the dancers prepare...stretching. I thought later about that being included in the video and decided that it is a wonderful insert. It is a parallel to anything one does that is worthwhile. It reminds me that everything in life takes, if it is to be good and dare I say excellent, take preparation.

I just posted the Utube below on 3 of my Squidoo lenses.
