Obama in Berlin - In the Beginning Was the Word - This is Our Moment

In the beginning was the WORD. Humm I wonder where that came from. If the Bible expresses the value of WORDS, then I think the idea of words should be entertained by Bible believers.. at least give WORDS a chance.

I have watched Barack Obama give his speech to the people of Berlin, Germany, a USA ally, yesterday, twice online and twice on TV now... each time I have chills and tears.

I for one am inspired.

People criticize and say that Obama speaks only words, and yet...

Ideas begin with a thought, most often they are presented with words... on paper or verbal or possibly in art.

It is up to enlightened people to follow good ideas, and nurture them, to see them materialize. It is up to us, as a human race, to HELP, if these concepts that Barack Obama's speeches present, are to go beyond ideas and mere words. To see WORDS deliver the CHANGE he describes, requires a belief that we can do it. His words of inspiration, can and will get us there, if we do OUR part and try to set those goals as well.

Step out into a idea of what can be, you will never know what could have been unless you follow the idea of possibility.

Create something that has not been within our mindset for a long time, and that is a spirit of hope and resourcefulness and to believe in things not yet lived.

Why would Obama present his concept to the world? Because we are all in the same boat, we have the common denominator of GLOBAL warming, AIDS, starvation and abuse of power along with terrorism that effects us ALL. It is up to us as a HUMAN RACE to take care of this earth, care about the lowly and do our best to change the circumstances at hand.

Barack Obama said in his speech,

"This is our moment. This is our time."

I say,

Rise to the occasion of possibility!

What is Passion in Art - Does Desire Elude or Even Scare You?

"What is Passion in Art - Does Desire Elude or Even Scare You?"

Passion in art, do you know it? Do you long to melt into the colors of red and dance with the latest voice expressing desire? Does it penetrate your very being, till you feel you can barely breathe? Do you feel restless and think that you will never 'get there'?

I know what passion means to me, and I find the very word abused and over used.

I decided to do a search on passion art. I wanted to see what passion means to other artists, maybe fulfill my need for going through a gallery. I typed said text in on google and saw image after image of nothingness. I became bored after the 5th page of square after square, of work that presented what others had decided to label as passion.

So what is it?

Why does it elude so many?

Maybe you do in fact feel blood rushing to your head at the sight of a still life. I can only express the fact that I have been searching for passion for art, all my life, it is the very core of my work, yet I know, I will never obtain its secrets.

I guess I am on a soapbox for passion.

The dictionary describes passion as a strong and barely controllable emotion; a state or outburst of emotion; intense sexual love; intense desire or enthusiasm for something.

More over used words: intense; emotion; desire.

Somehow I just don't think those emotions can be stirred up, within anyone's being, while viewing a bowl of fruit.

There is a real dichotomy with art. Some want to understand it; ask it to give them more; enlighten them towards some electric realization of cosmic fortitude.

And some people seek it out to place above their couch, match its color; stay in its place never asking anything but calmness ... with no questions asked.

Of course there are some questions people are prompted to ask if they are in love with those little cottages, light coming from the windows with a path leading to peaceful spots of a tired mind. People ask themselves, (and I am supposing here) "What do you think the people in that little cottage are having for dinner? Or is it a family like mine or wish I had?" Memories and nostalgia are stirred in some people, I am guessing. Is that passion though? I concede, maybe to some, but not one single bit to me.

I met a man who told me that he only likes poems that rhyme. Humm, I thought... limericks then? How mind bending. I am suggesting that if you feel that way, that a poem is not a poem unless it rhymes, or a painting is only blessed if it matches your couch, that you challenge your mind to hope for more.

Every single painting or sculpture, every poem or story I create, makes me feel uncomfortable and discontent. If you are an artist, or a lover of art, I believe you want that. It is passion reaching back at you, taunting you, to feel heights you have not yet reached.

While sex can and often does include passion, or at least we hope it does! I am not writing about sex per say, I am suggesting that passion, in its rawest form, should not be misconstrued as something that does not elude to something more. It should compete with ideas already set in your mind and cause you a sense of abandonment of your own being, if not for a moment.

Passion is emotion that is ready to explode and there is no resting place in sight. I want that! I want every stroke on canvas to exhume that. If you are a love of art or an artist of any genre at all, you should want that too. To find a resting place in art is to find boredom in the end. Can you soften your mood with art? Can you mend your own wounds while painting a vase of flowers? Of course you can. But, seek out passion, know it, embrace that elusive treasure. It will not cause you to feel 'comfortable', no, but it shouldn't, that is not its definition. Will you ever get there? I would answer no as well.. it is just barely out of reach, so kehttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gifep reaching!

A Goddess Calling Out For Magic-Will Your Tombstone Write Your Song?

"A Goddess Calling Out For Magic and Her Inner Child - Will Your Tombstone Write Your Song?"

Embracing the sky with grace
what fairies will you see?
A goddess
calling out for magic,
will your tombstone
write your song,
or slip into the dust?

Who I am,
who I can be,
I sort out those stories,
every single day.

Some days...
I simply cannot commit to a full day of attention,
balancing acts of the mind,
conclusions set on a single drive.

Peace doves light upon my window,
they want in,
I see them,
yet,
some days I am not really me.
Oft times I wait too long to greet them,
then find they've lost their feet.

I worry,
goddess post,
writing tales of wisdom,
heartache,
sometimes overcome with drama,
sometimes self indulgent.
It is that women who stands in dust,
forever calling,
toward unguarded forgiveness.

Lust does become me at times,
lust that comes in unopened books,
thoughts that generate pleasure,
not always sexual.
Still...
here I am,
in my own paintings,
standing in line to apologize.

If motion be my solace,
my hiding is disgraced.
If Lily be my child,
Oh Lily do forgive me!
Meet me inside,
embrace,
and then we can recover?

I will try...
I will!
Every single day.
I will stand on wet grass,
uncover the seeds of longing plants,
bring awakening to its knees.
I'll try not to slumber past Lily's subtlety.
She is indeed well a dressed,
with distinction,
despite the distractions,
of the sparkling packages,
within my box of colors.

But oh little girl of mine,
these waves that I inhale,
these blistering reminders,
I know I will again let you down.
So I conclude,
not being perfect,
if indeed there is a goddess in me at all?
I will pull a blanket over your eyes,
fantasy fairies standing by,
mermaids melting in the wind of change,
to remind me,
lest I falter,
and bend to uneven promises,
forever on my tombstone.

Lily Sheltered Extra Wings-My Fairy Doth Prevail

"Lily Sheltered Extra Wings-My Fairy Doth Prevail"

Frozen on the land
speculations of what once was
the grass has been put to rest
the trees melted to naked.
Lily sheltered extra wings
some for her and some for me.
I would find her
seek out my being
disguised.

I climbed the mountains of Africa
albeit in my mind.
There amidst the the trees
covered in wild lobelia
my Lily waited for me.
I called out her name
louder than I expected
my excitement of being in a dream
a plan of my mine
had simply overwhelmed me.

My Lily
patient with me
cleared her throat
handed me a box of ribbons
and told me life means we press on.

How did she know I had been crying?

To say her thoughts and comments
did not penetrate my thinking
would be a lie.
Yet I curse the very thought of it
sometimes
being so exposed.

How curious was Lily's table
the scent of flowers
a lock of her hair
a book of ideas
in a brown paper bag.
Candles lit despite the wind
I felt the trades in my hair.
Breath taken from me
her mystery held no room for mistake
I had to take this day in.
Being in awe
precious
it was almost unbearable
It felt to well to live.

I confess
I wanted everything that Lily had
I wanted life to breathe
sing and fill everyday with birds
that would never be lonely.

These demands of mine
expecting more
holding out for it
why should I apologize?
I want to be covered with angels
feel Euphoria
yes..
every single moment
I want it.

Sometimes there is no hiding
from me
despite my objections to myself
I meet me when I stand still.
If Lily be my refuge
I will hold that grace
embrace that containment
no inclusion of any other mindset.

Before I dined on dreams I'd planned
reached out for remarkable
everything else folded in disappointment.
Now
high in the mountains of Africa
I know
nothing is impossible
the dark has told me so.

I will always seek you out my Lily
my flower of renew
I will find her thoughtfulness
her tender song
despite my cries of giving up.
She confirms the latter
yet something she may not know?
Her world is mine
and in that I whisper
Ohh Lily is a sacred hope.

"Love Does Not Always Last Forever-Sometimes We Step Over Graves"

"Passages" 48x36 oil, gold leaf on canvas by Kathy Ostman-Magnusen

"Love Does Not Always Last Forever-Sometimes We Step Over Graves"

He slipped from my shadow
from my heart
and that afternoon I knew a different shade of moaning
a different sound of sadness.
It had always been so soft
I never listened till he was gone.

I heard a call
past my reason
I was told he had left alone
Echos of voices
entwined
I missed my chance.
Yet
I am no fool
another voice slipped into the pages
of a well traveled moon
a voice that used to be mine.
Some sort of message
intended to bring solace
fell from my hands.
All I could do was watch
as it landed on the pebbles
he had once walked on.

I will not try to explain
nor bring me to him
he is lost to this day
dear treasure of mine.

In the morning I will be grateful
I will embrace a memory
not nearly as painful as tonight.
I will look for things that smell like him
hold them to my face
and hear voices
wondering how long that will last.

It is not forever
love
no not always.
Sometimes we step over graves
pass weeping sparrows
miss out on their feathers
replaced.
One sparrow
so many feathers
I should have kept better track.

Moonlight did become you
I wish I had said it
I always melted as it highlighted your words.
Softer than mine
that is what I miss
the softest voice in the loudest sorrow
Again might know a gentler repose.
I wish I could hear it
again.

Hawaii House FOR SALE: MLS ID#211892-living room

My house in Hawaii is for sale. It's a Zen type house, set up as a gallery.. my life has always been ABOUT THE ART. I think the thing I love most about this house is the simplicity of not having so many things cluttering my spirit. I tend to work very sloppy so I need some order in my house.

The pic is the left side of U shaped house that looks onto an atrium in the middle. Pic is of the living room.

Austin Artist Joyce DiBona: upcoming shows in New York City and collaboration with International Curator/Director Pietro Franesi

Longtime Austin Artist Joyce DiBona will be one of fourteen artists featured at Monkdogz Urban Art in New York City for “Zephyr” July 17 through August 6, 2008. Monkdogz Urban Art is located in the heart of Chelsea, NYC. It is an International Gallery dedicated to showcasing cutting edge established and emerging artists:
“History has dictated that occasionally windows of opportunity open within the art world. In the 1930s, artists like Willem de Kooning and Jackson Pollock just to name a couple, were afforded a platform to exhibit their work in New York City. The reception worldwide was significant. Again, in the early 1970s, artists like Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring were afforded the same opportunity. We believe that as we go into the 21st century, the window opens once again but this time on a more international scale. The world today is very much a global village. Distances, time zones and different languages are no longer the barriers that they once were.” www.monkdogz.com

Art Basel Miami 2008 : December 4-7, 2008
Joyce DiBona will be collaborating with Pietro Franesi on an installation for Art Basel Miami 2008.

Art Basel Miami Beach is the most important art show in the United States, a cultural and social highlight for the Americas. As the sister event of Switzerland's Art Basel, the most prestigious art show worldwide for the past 38 years, Art Basel Miami Beach combines an international selection of top galleries with an exciting program of special exhibitions, parties and crossover events featuring music, film, architecture and design. www.artbaselmiamibeach.com

NY Biennale Art 2009: September 27-October 25, 2009
Ms. DiBona will once again collaborate with Pietro Franesi, the Director of the NY Biennale Art 2009, on one of the permanent exhibition projects, “Deus Vult”. http://www.nybiennaleart.org

Glass is the current medium that fuels my creative passion. My interest in glass began when I spent several years working at The Peltier Glass Company in Ottawa, Illinois, U.S.A. There I learned about the versatility and creative potential that glass has to offer. The possibilities are practically limitless. My abstract work in glass is an improvisation in which I seek form and emotion. I want the work to appear to "come alive." I think of it as the transfer of my life energy into the glass. That is what I want others to see and feel. The shapes I create transport my consciousness from the immediate, external world to an inner realm of symbols and emotions. It is there, in my subconscious, where my work derives its meaning.

Bjoern Eriksen -Denmark
http://www.eriksen.be/
http://www.eriksen.be/english.asp
http://www.monkdogz.com/Monkdogz%20Artist%20Links/artistsE.htm

Bjorn Eriksen is a mature artist, born in 1957. At the age of seven he was fascinated by Picasso's Guernica, in which the spirit shaped as a shaken and sad young person with a candle in his hand, together with a terrified, wounded horse, sees how a brutal bull, symbolizing the dominating oppressing powers of our time, has slain the future formed as a child. As a result, the mother cries out her sorrow and anger to the bull's face. The horse is Pegasus of the art and Eriksen has vanished into it and he has never returned. Can you stand beside your time? Yes! You can. You can be neutral. But then, how can you make anything but decorative and abstract geometric art. There is enough of this. But Eriksen has also sensed something: it is about holding on to the light and not give up on reality - though it is tough. The man who has fought the bull on the back of Pegasus is surely lying dead on the ground but with a little flower in his hand. He succeeded in making his art. How does Eriksen's flower look like? He paints in an expressive style that makes a strong impact. It consists of lonely faces. No wonder. Yet they deny to give up. Some hide behind masks. It is difficult to reveal yourself. One is looking to the sky saying "I don't care". But that is not enough for most of his faces.

Karina Sala -Buenos Aires, Argentina
http://www.karingasala.tk
http://www.monkdogz.com/Monkdogz%20Artist%20Links/artistsS.htm

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, her education and career highlights began with her earlier artistic activity in the year 1972 at the sculpture atelier owned by Maria Rosa Frigerio, where she stayed for two years. After that, she studied at Jorge Demerijian's atelier for six years. She studies at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón with a specialized professorship in painting. For two more years, she studied drawing techniques at the Asociación Estímulo de Bellas Artes with Carlos Terribili. She attends several workshops and art history courses. In the year 2004 she was able to reach top of the world knowledge directly from the kingdom of arts: The city of Paris, in France.

Betina Jung -Denmark

http://www.monkdogz.com/chelseagallery/artistart/Jung/artist_jung.htm
http://www.monkdogz.com/Monkdogz%20Artist%20Links/artistsJ.htm

Betina Jung is an abstract painter, who paints in forms full of energy, in a directly, raw and strong personal way. Energy, women, hidden bodies and elements of stagnationmoments. The compositions often have more than one center - because it is made in a lot of coating. You can not see it all at first - you have to look closely and discover behind the immediate.

The artist couple Jonna Pedersen and Bjørn Eriksen demonstrate their sparkling co-operation with a new exhibition.

There is the city and there is its people. Buildings and bodies. People meet and separate and the buildings stand as meaningful scenes around it all. That is the take-off for the exhibition that Jonna Pedersen and Bjørn Eriksen invites to at Galleri Jørgen Østergaard and Kunstpakhuset in Ikast , Denmark .

The two artists are essentially different. Bjørn Eriksen classical expressive and intense. Jonna Pedersen modern with confident sense of the hidden language of the facades. And yet they meet somewhere in the painting. In a coalision between the inner and outer side of the existence.

Eternally searching for a universal language, Marcus describes his inner urge to paint as his ultimate passion... Derived by the inspiration of life and the bizarre times he finds himself a part of. Born and raised in the Hague, he has been expressing himself through his art since he was old enough to hold a pen...Marcus' desire to transform the beholder and elevate them from reality is surely fulfilled through his work...Multiple dimensions mingle and intertwine to create a psychedelic nature where mysticism and humor depicted side by side illustrate his reality...The paintings contain an ever present mystical overtone that draws us unwillingly into his surreal dimension. Each new painting is regarded by Marcus as a fresh challenge ; anything is possible and likely in his vision...although no two of Marcus's paintings are alike, his undeniable style is ever recognizable through his dream-like reality...The language spoken weaves a tale of modern symbolism highlighted by his explosive usage of color...

Through the years artists have painted their interpretations of everyday objects, subjects, and countless landscapes by using recognizable shapes and forms to relay their messages. Vincent Van Gogh’s landscapes are truly original and so are Monet’s; each of which have there own distinctive personality, characteristics and purpose. However, one thing has always remained the same regardless of the artist, the use of forms and shapes to create their objects. Some have chosen to abstract their shapes, but the artist is still using recognizable shapes to some degree, to represent a specific image. Status quo.

Most people look at art for something they can recognize and the artist usually abides by painting something familiar to capture the interest of the viewer. A bright summer day for example is painted with a blue sky and round yellow sun. We are all familiar with these shapes and compositions so the artist has left us with just that – a bright summer day, painting. Status quo.

Can the viewer experience this same bright summer day if all recognizable shapes, forms and compositions are left out of the painting? More importantly can an artist represent a specific place or object without the use of form – even if abstracted?

This is my place in art. I have chosen to remove all forms and recognizable shapes as well as traditional tools (paint brushes) from my compositions and create a sense of place or mood and even imagery through the use of color. Freedom.

Monkdogz Urban Art in NYC, Art Basel, Miami, NY Biennale 2009

In the year 2004 she was able to reach top of the world knowledge directly from the kingdom of arts: The city of Paris, in France.

http://www.monkdogz.com/chelseagallery/artistart/Jung/artist_jung.htm
http://www.monkdogz.com/Monkdogz%20Artist%20Links/artistsJ.htm

Betina Jung is an abstract painter, who paints in forms full of energy, in a directly, raw and strong personal way. Energy, women, hidden bodies and elements of stagnationmoments. The compositions often have more than one center - because it is made in a lot of coating. You can not see it all at first - you have to look closely and discover behind the immediate.

The lovers and the streets of the city
By Ole Lindboe

In a coalision between the inner and outer side of the existence.

http://www.monkdogz.com/chelseagallery/artistart/Van%20Soest/artist_vansoest.htm
http://www.monkdogz.com/Monkdogz%20Artist%20Links/artistsS.htm

Freedom.

Interview With Me at Text Ladies

THIS IS SOOO SWEET... WRITTEN BY PAMELA RUDISILL:

"I, Pamela, am one of the luckiest girls in town! I have had the distinct pleasure of interviewing Kathy Ostman-Magnusen, a magnificent artist and poet. Kathy has worked in a variety of styles in many mediums. Her work can be wildly passionate, mystical, serene and all the shades of emotion in-between. Kathy's work focuses primarily on women; their lives, dreams, fears and desires. Her use of bold color and exquisite line clearly expresses the passion, strength and spirituality in women. Kathy's interest in the mystical world is evident in her paintings of fairies, angels and mermaids. Kathy's poetry is like magic and just as open and honest as her paintings. I hope you'll take a few moments to read some of her poems by clicking on the links at the bottom of this post. Without further ado, let's move on to the interview..."

"Pencil Drawings of Dragons"

I take away smiles from all the dragons.
Pencil drawings on paper
stories told
dragons made to know of my conquering ways.

I am the master of my own shadow.

Ahh it all does please me so
my stencils on the moon.
I sit atop it now
inside the moons glow
reviewing all my former postings
still silent
yet smiling
as a ship sets sail
being led by a pegasus
to the Milky Way.

Fantasy fairies of art
a meeting of the goddess
warrior women
legends of mermaids lore
they meet me at oceans door.

I laugh and leave them chocolate
lest they fade away.

Art deco
art stencils
how do I paste fantasy fairies
securely on the moon?

I melted my dragon
erased his confidence
right when I needed him most!

Back to my easel and pencil box
I suppose
dragons can be drawn again
smiles reassured.

Drawing fire from his breath
mermaid art
warrior women conquer all.

I do not resent my dragon
I draw him freely
and yet
I make sure he understands my power.

I am a warrior
I hold my own pencil
my watercolors at hand
my oils
I draw when and whatever pleases me.

I take my graphite
draw a dragon, a fairy, a ghost of me.

I pick up all the stencils of my mind
art deco I have planned
I remind myself of my own worth.

I do not need to fit in an envelope
I would not travel well anyway.

Art deco
art stencils of the mind
I paste my heart on the Milky Way.

I will steady the ladder
hold it safely
for you
my darling pegasus
to see the view.

My glass is held high
I filled it to the brim with dreams
I toast the ghost of a dragons past
no matter the fire
or drama he roars forth.

I am a warrior
a woman
a goddess
dreams rest very safely in my heart.

Buried Roses Inside Whimsical Angle Pictures- Fairies Illustrations

Buried Roses Inside Whimsical Angle Pictures-Fairies Illustrations

Beautiful older women galleries
dear Lily
I found your pictures there.
Fairies illustrations
gothic angel art
kept in a dust covered coffin.
Roses in each whimsical angel pictures hand.

Don't polish the roses unless you plan to keep them
they told me that they don't like being touched
and so I won't.

Clear intent
a line of chalk
gentle yet cumbersome
if you want to go chasing rainbows.

Whats the matter with those bells?
neglected and yet
they continue ringing.
I never wondered why
until we buried the roses.

Pink mountains
invite the tainted noise
bells ring
reminding me roses were once present.

Lily, past the brazen trail
tried to save them
or maybe not.
I guess she was not breathing after all.
I thought I understood her goal.

She used to comb my hair for me
never how I liked it
but still
at least she knew how to weave the colors.
I never thought it was an intrusion
until now of course.
Now that the roses have been drowned.

Dying words
fragrance misunderstood
or maybe missing altogether?
We should never mess with nature
that's what Lily always says.

If I conform will you?
Will you Lily?
If we gather clippings
will you help me?

Have pity on the wounded bird
that is somehow us.
Set flowers on your table
noting the present and the past.
Penetrate the clouds
interrupt the rain
call it a special day.

Oh Lily!
I take so much back.
You shine where I couldn't
it is all a falsehood
those notions we grieved over.
Healing is actually blended
and roses that fell short
surface when sorrow is embraced.
Know that victim
and she will heal you.

I've met my mentor
coaxed from the devil
older
this woman at a gallery
we knew her when we were young.
I stroked that line
savored antics that seemed off limits
held up by all those boundaries
crumbling before our eyes.
Truth be told
it is they
that bells chime for.
Or maybe thats just me that thinks so.

After I find you again Lily
can we make a pact?
Lets assume that mistakes can meet cures
and once paraded above the wet ground
where all those roses lie
we will know
once again
their sorrow is fleeting.

Beautiful older women galleries
dear Lily
I found your pictures there.
Torn and worn
dated
fairies illustrations
gothic angel art
kept in a dust covered coffin.
I pulled them out
still melting
yet hopeful.
I held my breath
or was it yours?
Oh Lily!
There among the leaves
roses awoke once more
in each whimsical angel pictures hand.

Where Is Santa Right Now? Creating Magic?

"Magic" 30x40x2 oil on canvas

"Where Is Santa Right Now? Does Santa Go On Vacation? Or Stay Home At the North Pole? Humm"

Where is Santa right now?
Off for the summer is he?
Does Santa take a holiday?
What does he do when he's not repairing his sled
keeping track of those elves
feeding Rudolf and the rest of the reindeer?
Does he go to Hawaii?
Does he go to the South of France?
Where is Santa NOW?

I want to give him a phone call
Can I?
If I find his number is it Santa himself
who answers?
Does he have an answering service?
Can I email Santa?
And if I do will he be the one who reads my message
or just one of his elves?
Hummm.

If Ol' Saint Nick does go on holiday
Do the elves to too?
Does Mrs. Claus go?
Don't they need some rest as well?
If they do go
who feeds the reindeer?
Hummm.

I just don't know!
It all perplexes me.
Of course Santa must rest
so where is Santa right now?

If Santa goes on a holiday
does here where his red and white outfit?
What does he wear?
And Mrs. Claus
what does she wear?
If the elves go too
what do they wear?
I am wondering too
wouldn't people notice them all?
Lying in the sun
sipping ice tea?
If they reindeer go
isn't that a huge attraction?
Do people bug them all
and ask for their autographs?
OH! Where is dear Santa right now?

No, I don't think he is in Hawaii
I am not sure why but it just does not sound right
tourists would said they saw him there by now.
Santa, the elves and the reindeer surfing?
Humm I don't think so.

The South of France then?
If so, what is he doing there?
Does he eat French food?
Does he go to see the art?
What about the reindeer inside the restaurants?
No, that just cannot be it.

Oh I don't know where Santa could be
except maybe where he always is
The North Pole!
Yup, that is where Santa is now.
Santa and the elves Mrs. Claus and the reindeer
Rudolf for sure!
Santa is much too busy for a holiday
Humm...
or is he?
Ask any child
perhaps they will know,
"Where is Santa right now?"

"Fantasy Art Warrior Women Who Dwell on Animated Faery Pictures & a Lusty Library"

"Fantasy Art Warrior Women Who Dwell on Animated Faery Pictures & Lusty a Library"

I see fantasy art warrior women
goddess art surrounds me
and so...
paintings of women
gothic art
and a lusty library at times
are blended inside my closet
creating animated faery pictures
inside my mind.
Modulated strokes
that invade an angels beating heart
find their way onto empty canvases.
Most times they are not my own
or is that they always are?
I forget or refuse to admit at times.

Met by an ocean of fairies
warriors
lost loves
saints?
Wet sirens pulling down to the bottom
of a lonely sea
innocence
taking the wind of sailors
below the waves that ripple ore.
I hold them in my one free hand.
I then let them go
like breathing
lest they leave me in spirit
without blinking.

I color their breaths with my tongue
stroke their hair with my indulgence
stand by their pain
because it is mine own.
I share their longings
before they erode
hold out for miracles that dwell on unaware surfaces
of our fragile atonement.

I capture them there...
these monsters down the hallway
after a neglected song.
These tunes
these memories
blinded at times
no longer dancing
they have no shoes.
I cry for them
and mine own self as well.
What a pathetic eulogy
painted in as well
muted in color.
I will be sure to mark this uncovered grave.

I am a painter of beautiful women
I see them in the moon
and in the vacancy left behind in the morning.
I paint women
because I am one
not because I lust for their touch
because I lust for their understanding
and thus
the understanding my own being.

Faults that fail on my own expectations
of myself
of who I think I might become
or who I think I am now or past the vail.
My triumphs...
ohh I seek them
to uphold any sense of survival.
As I realize my judgments
met by the beaconing of my calls
I stand and meet the precipice
that reaches beyond the space I thought I could attain.

The rain melts on my skin
the calluses that do indeed erode me
cause me to walk beyond the suffering
as if it never existed.

I wretch
I reject their vision.

I creep down low to the ground
as I humbly meet the maker of my own being.
I form myself
and yet I allow room for myself
to understand that there is indeed more to me
than what I have yet known to be.
There is indeed an outside of me
and there is as well a beyond me.
I wretch at the thought that I might miss it all
because I fall and feel too many times.
I have failed to see that I have wings.

Pray for me.

I strip off my clothes
revel in my frailties
beautiful women in competition
succumb to them
expecting people to notice
interrupted songs without structure
that only I could understand.
And yet...
mirror in hand
I cover me with band aids
lest I go unnoticed by my critical onlookers
looking only for bound hands
and a bloody mouth.

I paint goddess art of beautiful women
sculpt whimsical angels into their souls
animated faery pictures
fantasy art warrior women
and write about mermaids I meet along the way.

Legends of Mermaids on Kauai Shores

Outside my window I hear beating hooves.. it must be a pegasus arriving to a mermaids den bringing me the salt air of Kauai. It must be "Magic" a 30x40x2 oil on canvas.

Legends of Mermaids and Kauai Shorelines of Hanalei Bay

I heard there were myths to follow
legends of mermaids
trickles of light
dancing
on the shores of Kauai
a mermaids tale indeed.

"I have measured every star", she said
"How do I find the time?
I have taken every dream
and colored them with crayons
sprinkled them with fairy dust
and framed them in seashells.
I have captured spectacular moments
they simply could not escape.
I held them close
heard their messages
wept for knowledges sake
then wrapped them in silk.
My pleasure there
I waited for the time to be right
the moon full
and made promises to night.
Legends of mermaids spoke
and I heard them."

This legend or myth?
This mermaid's love affair
sings with an island that stands for love.
Out in the middle of the Pacific
it whispers
with every bit of potential
every spiritual lesson
every breath
I could possibly invoke.

Standing on the shoreline
Hanalei, a dragons den
Puff does welcome travelers in.
He hears their longings
and wanton cries
I too have been blessed
by a mountain long and wise.
Legends of Mermaids
lost at sea?
Myths no not ever.
Tis true these tales
and magic calls
open you heart to see
feel your life
tis just a breath away.

Forbidden Erotica I Hear You Breathing

Forbidden Erotica I Hear You Breathing - Is Sex Still Your Demon?

Nude art
forbidden erotica
I hear you breathing
some demon you forgot
and left dismantled.

You called her an angel
I did not protest
I heard her breathing
naked
yet no longer cold.
How amazing
I realized
after days of darkness
she was me.

There are judges
jesters of meetings I have known
all lined up
I counted their antics
watched them lace their shoes
display their compasses
no matter their destination
had already been decided by them.

A mission
how grand!
A trail
a walk right out the door
never looking back?
Yes
too late for you to change my mind.

Stop your chatter!
Stop your notes and boundaries
Stop those insignificant thunders
that blind your ears and heart
I confess
yes I finally succumb
I stand up on the mountain top
any one will do
and I scream!
I scream for me.

I'm sick of it!
Tired of all you bantering
supposed struggles to be good?
Are you?

Lets make the bed now
decide that yes
I have made my bed
and now lie in it.
I will line each voice
hear their lies
those who piously
said they knew
and decided my fate.

I hear voices only I can make
once closed to any echo
and I find pleasure
laced with cashmere
and lined with all that supposed gold
you said you knew.

No excuse between the crack
calling out
beckoning entrance
to sustain its moving parts.
No agendas unveiled
that are now to me unworthy.
I will hold my own.

Exotic art
fire girls
obsession art
nude art
erotic these collections
yes I hear them breathing.
I post them on my walls
blessing them there
making an alter of acceptance
sex is not my demon
that was yours.
Yet lust will always be your shadow.

New York

"A Tree Grows in Brooklyn... Too"

It wasn't hard to pack, I took only the important things with me, a handful of leaves from trees to remind me where I had come from. Yet I expected more.. there had to be more.

There are journeys that people seek out that lend to experiences not yet lived, I am one of those travelers. My plane to New York would arrive late, but it came and I could not stop myself from crying. A dream met, the hope of all who seek out distant lands, but never speak of them out loud. Whatever keeps the prize from those silent souls is often hidden in boxes with labels that remark there is no return. Boxes full of tape that bind gifts and treasures, only released in dark spaces while completely alone.

"I'm on my way to meet my creative side face to face, lest it lose its resilience," I said inside my mind. "Oh fragile path, its time to stop along the way and breathe in those desires. Time to take out your paints and splash their blood from head to my toe, lick up complaints from the wounded, give solace, because they are you". I cried again..."That's how you got here, you paid for a thousand and one days, time to feel your worth."

My goal met, I stood before my shadow, a painting on the wall. I recognized its worth beyond my past objections and wanted only to soothe myself. I had met one of my emotions head on and its fragrance became the charm I had been looking for. I stood before my painting, my painting of me and gave it back a smile of recognition.

"Did you bring the book?" I heard a voice behind me say.

I did not turn around to see the face from where the voice came, instead I closed my eyes and felt the essence from its breath. I felt it on my shoulder like a bird that rested after flight. I had the book, indeed I did. I took it from my pocket and in the process all the leaves that I had carried so carefully, fell to the ground.

"OH NO!" I opened my eyes and saw their green veined figures on the tiles on which I stood. "However will I find my way home again! However will I remember those graves from all my sadness, reminders from where I came from!?"

The door to the gallery opened and a wind swept in. It took up the leaves and caused them to begin dancing. I could only watch in disbelief. They seemed happy and unconcerned about me. I wanted to gather them again, put them in their place and demand they stay put, do as they were told. The next thing I knew they rushed right out the door, on to the elevator and into the street. I ran blindly waving my arms, screaming and frantic. I would not know who I was without them. However would I find my soul again? I watched the leaves swim through the currents of freedom. To be understood later? I was not sure, I was alone.

I walked back up to the gallery.. sensed a shadow but I was too bereaved to search out its eyes. Standing again in front of my painting I wept. Mysteriously the voice of before, was once again behind me, and it began to sing. It was soft and gently, something about it felt soothing and I wanted to stay there forever. I closed my eyes and bowed my head inhaling the music to my ears. I felt its presence, breathing on my neck, then kissing my shoulder. Opening my eyes, holding the book in hand, I knew a question could be asked of the melody that came from the figure behind me.

I heard myself speak up, "What am I going to do? My tokens, my history have left me, I have no more leaves to remind me of me."

Kisses on my shoulder the melody did reply, "You don't need them anymore, no more regret. No more waiting for life to begin or unrewarded promises of places you have never been only to wonder about. There are fresh leaves on every tree on every journey you will step out to meet."

I turned around to see the figure. Confused at first at what I saw but accepting, the voice I saw came from me. I had met my worth, acknowledged the relief of letting go and knew it was just the beginning.

Remembering the book, I opened up the pages to a treasured quote:

"I wept because the process by which I became a woman was painful. I wept because from now on I would weep less. I wept because I had lost my pain and I was not yet accustomed to its absence."

~Anais Nin

Placing the book on the floor beneath my painting, still open to the words I have understood so many times, I knew exactly what she meant. I then took off all my clothes, left the book behind and entered the world outside.

Statement about the series, "Primal":

About my Self Portraits:

The "Primal Series", of a woman, me, not in her teens or even her 20's, is something that addresses issues important to a lot of women. Am I sexy? Am I pretty? Am I confident in who I am? Am I free to explore ideas, once hidden? So many questions answered for my own self and hopefully for other women of any age.

I am not going to disappear just because I am not in my 20's or 30's or 40's.. wow. That is the way it has felt at times. Strange.

Mental notes of understanding who we are under the veil of who we hoped we would be as women or who we think we lost, are embraced by me within the cloak of all women.

Exploring that sexual side; embracing my own desires and trying to not just understand them but find out what they are! So many feeling for various reasons are pushed down and made incidental because society has claimed they should feel uncomfortable.

Finding any sense of rawness seems crazy past 40. But why? That is what I think I am finally concluding. As a lot of women get older they tend to feel themselves disappear. I am one. I see though through this whole series that I am working on, digging inside myself to find that essence of sexiness that is woman; hearing tiny cries from those emotions hid from my own self and letting them see the light of day is luscious! Its not about being defined by others as being sexy, letting others decide my fate in how I feel about myself.. its about ME accepting who I really am and having the confidence to bring it all out on canvas. To not only see it but embrace and shine in it.

I want reach deeper and find all the things about my own sexuality that have always been mine to know. I want to understand the passion I long to paint and comprehend what those emotions are.

Passion has a sense of violence about it, it is strong and it survives aggression. I don't want to paint passive art.. I want feel the obsession of lust inside its raw and primal pursuit. Within passion one finds a boldness full of enticing ambitions to grasp on to, that piece of your heart that presses you to go past the mark of a bystander, that spot you may have been told to stay put on.

It is not possible to feel apathetic when standing next to passion. I don't paint landscapes to hang above someone's couch, paintings meant to be a resting place for the mind? I want to paint feelings that one cannot dismiss. I hope to stir up feelings that overwhelm within the viewer as well as myself. It is not my goal to feel nothing but a sunny day or peacefulness, shiny trinkets that rest on walls that can be walked away from. I want to paint women who feel something. I paint myself as I define it and revel in the fact that I am made whole by my own journey of introspection.

I want to paint strength, sexuality, pain, power, a force of intensity, emotional qualities that generate a reaction. I don't want to paint the sky, I want to paint the dominance of the wind that caused it to be felt on ones skin, in the form of a woman. I pick up my brush or clay between my fingers and consider a certain belligerence, an attitude of confidence that meets the power I need to form an energy outside myself and I welcome it in. I paint or sculpt until I hear them breathing and their breath becomes my own.

I paint myself as I try to define the energy that is indeed my own sexuality but also all women whether they accept that part of themselves or not.
